Nuclear Fluidics
Accentus has been active in the development and supply of fluidic technology
and equipment primarily for the nuclear industry since the 1970s. The primary
focus of this work was to provide fluid control systems that required no moving
parts or seals, such that they would not erode or need replacing. ~400 Nuclear
fluidic systems are now in use in a range of nuclear applications for pumping,
mixing, metering and valving applications. Systems have been supplied for
use in the UK, USA, Japan and Germany.
The range of technolgies consist of:
- Diodes
- Pumps
- Diverters
- Tank Mixers and Samplers
- Choke valves
Diodes and Pumps
Basic principle is to use geometry to force a vortex and this
high pressure drop when flow in in one direction, but with no vortex and thus
low resistance to flow in the opposite direction, see below:
